Expert group
This expert group aims to accelerate adoption of AI at the industrial-automation layer, spanning PLC, DCS, SCADA, HMIs, and the broader connected engineering toolchain.
The focus has two pillars: transforming engineering workflows (including how organisations "automate the automation"), and enabling reliable and secure AI-powered production systems as operations grow more autonomous over time.
We bring execution-driven end users together with hands-on practitioners from across the ecosystem: system integrators, automation vendors, and startups, so roadmap work stays grounded in what ships and scales.
Key themes include data and code sovereignty; next-generation engineering tooling and IDEs; human-agent collaboration; cross-vendor engineering workflows; alignment and evolution of emerging standards and open interfaces; evolving business models; and treating automation as a scalable foundation, not a bottleneck.
The group emphasises real-world adoption, shared best practices, and evidence-led evaluation of what works in practice. Initial steps centre on aligning on the current landscape and publishing a concise, actionable roadmap for accelerating AI adoption in industrial automation.
Discussion rooms, working files, and deliverables in progress are in the member area. Join the network or sign in to take part.
